December Update
BIG STABILITY UPDATE
Happy holidays!
We spent all November & December working on stability issues in Google Sheets and our API. Users of extremely large and complex spreadsheets (500+ Market Data formulas, 1 million+ cells) have had a hard time using our product due to slowdowns and stability issues.
We've worked for 2 months to solve these issues.
Our "All sheets" refresh process is now rock solid and can refresh a
workbook with a million cells in less than 3 minutes
. Previously, large sheets could take 15-20 minutes to fully refresh. And now the "Current sheet" refresh will refresh sheets with 100,000+ cells in about 30 seconds.
You may have noticed periodic downtime for our real-time data API as well. We spent the better part of the month
incorporating back-up data providers for each of our data sets
(stocks, options, and indices). That means when the connection to our primary data provider is offline or overloaded, we can switch over to a secondary source, avoiding those pesky 5-10 minute outages.
We are also no longer providing real-time data for the Free Forever plan or Free Trial users
. Our Free Forever plan and free trial users can continue to use our API and Sheets Add-on, but will receive delayed data instead of real-time data. This change will help us conserve server/bandwidth resources and provide a better experience for paying customers.
With our 1 year anniversary on the horizon next February, we plan on ending the open beta. If you would like to take advantage of our beta pricing (
70% discount on annual plans
), we encourage you to sign-up and lock in the lifetime discount, which is discounted for our beta customers.
Our commitment is to never raise prices for customers who make the decision to purchase during our beta.
We also finished this month:
  • API: Improved error messages so users can better understand what is going on.
  • Sheets: Fixed error messages to make them more user-friendly.
  • API: Improved the health-check for the API gateway to better detect downtime.
